Designing My Own Dream House Getting started.

After working with Google's Sketchup software for several months, I decided to dive in and begin designing an entire house. I knew this would be no easy task, and would pose many challenges. What better reason to start!

Here is an image of the floor plan for the first floor. Grand Entrance, dinning room, kitchen, living room, office, and mud/laundry room.

Staring at a blank screen, with limitless possibilities, designing the basic floor plan can be more difficult then one might think. I decided to make this house two levels. All three bedrooms, are located on the second level. Living room, kitchen, dinning room, and office are located on the first level.

Here is the floor plan for the second level. Master Bedroom, two additional bedrooms, sitting/TV room. linen closet, Full Bathroom, Master Bath, walk in master closet, and oh ya, Media room/home theater.

After deciding on the floor plan, the real work begins. Just how big to make the rooms, is the stair case in the right place, what will this look like in real life? So many questions, only one way to answer.

Here is the preliminary walls for the first level. Windows and doors were cut out.
